Understanding Governance – Oct 9th @ 6pm

Celebrate Co-op Month by increasing your understanding of the role of the Board of Directors! Join members of the Cooperative Maine Business Alliance for a discussion and workshop centered on the role that governance plays in our cooperatives – the roles and responsibilities of boards of directors, their relationship with managers, their relationship with the membership, and more. Thane Joyal, Governance Support and Board Development consultant from Columinate (www.columinate.coop), will be facilitating this deep dive into the role of the Board of Directors across a wide spectrum of cooperative sectors.

This workshop will have many opportunities to work on sample challenges in small groups with your own board, members and managers, as well as with folks from other co-ops. The goal is to create a rich, interactive, peer-to-peer learning experience where everyone can come away with some new skills and insights, as well as deepen relationships with other co-ops in the Midcoast and beyond.
