Threats of Belonging: Cooperation & Community Storytelling (Advocacy/Movement)

Maine has long been home to cooperative ways of living and working—both through the deep traditions of the Wabanaki tribes and the evolving contributions of new immigrant and refugee communities.

This panel discussion brings together Wabanaki leaders, immigrant and refugee cooperators, and local policymakers to explore the spirit of cooperation that has shaped Maine’s economy and culture and the ways in how communal practices contribute to our ecosystem.

Through storytelling, and oral history, we’ll examine how mutual aid, shared resources, and collective resilience continue to define belonging in Maine’s communities.
